What wind actually does

A limb through one area of a sound roof is a repair: deck, underlayment, covering, and the flashings the limb destroyed. Wind that took the ridge and a few courses may still be a repair if the field is flexible. Wind that reveals a brittle field, or that opened many slopes on a roof already at the end of its life, becomes roof replacement. We will say which one the photos support. We will not inflate a maintenance item into a full replacement, and we will not shrink a destroyed slope into a tube of sealant.
Commercial membranes follow the same honesty on a different system. A peeled edge can be repaired if the field is dry and attached. A storm that shows the roof was already failing at every lap is a commercial replacement conversation. Flat drainage issues that the storm only revealed are still flat roof problems.

Owners often need notes and photos for an insurer. We can describe what we see, where it is, and what repair it implies. We do not decide coverage, depreciation, or what a policy owes. How is this different from hail?
Hail is impact: bruises, fractured tiles, and granule loss in a spatter pattern. Wind is lift, peel, and punctures from debris. Read hail damage if ice fell.
